Jeremy’s Brief History

My name is Jeremy Laporte but I’m also digitally known as Vaillant. I was born and raised in France mostly around Nantes. I graduated from ENCIA (Nantes) with a BTS Action Commercial in 2002 (associate degree in general business). After that I served a two year mission in Greece and Cyprus for the LDS church. Once back home, I was disappointed with the jobs I was getting which were not exciting and didn’t have many growth opportunities. I decided to leave everything, including my family to pursue my education in the U.S.

I was accepted at BYU-Idaho in Rexburg, ID into the Bachelor of Art program. I was planning to transfer to BYU in Provo UT because it was a more famous school, but I absolutely loved the atmosphere and the environment in Idaho so I decided to stay. I graduated in April 2009 with a BA in Business Management and minors in marketing, CIT and entrepreneurship. Studying business at BYU-Idaho was a great opportunity because the university president is the former dean of students at Harvard business school, so the faculties pushed each student to a level similar to what MBA student do. I also got to study hundreds of cases from Harvard, Standford, and Kelogg business schools. I had the opportunity to do my internship as a junior analyst for the venture capital firm: EPIC Venture and the experience was truly an eye opener to the business world.

While studying, I met my wife, Alisa, in an art class and we married each other in Salt Lake City, UT on February 22, 2008 and had our first baby, Jenna, almost a year after on February 5, 2009.

Upon graduation, I was offered a position as an adjunct faculty for BYU-Idaho to teach french classes. I accepted the position because I love helping other students and share my french culture. Also I’m planning to stay in Idaho for quite a few years, at least until my wife graduates.
